Mary Bell, daughter of Rev. John Bell and Elizabeth Jones, was born 1728 at Lancaster County, Virginia, and died 1802 at Orange County, Virginia.

She married twice, children by each marriage.

  1. John Jones (abt 1728 - bef 22 Jun 1758) on 2 Nov 1750 at Lancaster County. He was the son of Swan Jones and Elizabeth Lee.
  2. Zachariah Burnley (abt 1730 - abt 1800) before 25 October 1759 at Orange County. He was the son of Hardin Burnley and Ann Winston (nee Terrill); his 2nd wife.

  1. Elizabeth Swann Jones, b. 1755. Married John Burnley.

Will of John Jones of Orange County, being sick and weak, dated 31 May 1758.

  • To my loving wife six Negros Simon, Jo, Dick, Great Dinah, Emanuel and Little Simon.
  • The rest of my Negros to be kept together until one of my children come of age or marry and then to be equally divided between my two children.
  • My stock and household stuff be kept together as long as my wife lives a widow or should die and then in either case to be equally divided between my loving wife and children, or my two children.
  • If my two children should die without heirs, the Negroes I had by my wife to to her and her heirs and my land whereon I now live and the rest of my Negros unto my loving sister Elizabeth Taylor.
  • As I have sold a tract lying in the countys of Stafford and Prince William to Joseph Stone and James Calk, my executors make deeds for the said lands to Stone and Calk, they paying the money for the said lands according to agreement.
  • My loving wife Mary Jones and her two brothers Maj. John Bell and Mr. Thomas Bell of Prince William County and Mr. Zachary Taylor of Orange County executors.
  • My Estate be not appraised.
