Noel Lanier's parents moved to Eureka, GA, near Oliver, where they remained for years. This property was later obtained from Captain Noel Lanier by the Reverend Thomas Washington Lanier, one of his sons, who for years filled the pulpit at the Eureka Baptist Church.

Capt. Noel LANIER was the son of
• Major Lewis LANIER R.S. &
• Esther BUTTS THORNE LANIER, and the husband of
• Sarah Martha TULLIS.

At his funeral, the officiating clergyman stated: The deceased lived all his life within a half-mile of his birthplace and did not leave an enemy.

These memorials to members of the TULLIS and BREWER Families of Effingham County are dedicated to Maureen HAUPT MCCARTHY of California, who died in 2004, a gracious genealogist for whom I researched these families during 1999.
