Capt. Peleg Winslow died 8/19/1800, Putney, VT, aged 56, according to his gravestone. He married, probably at Dighton, formerly a part of Taunton, MA, Betsey Holloway of Shelburne, Franklin County, MA. This town was originally part of Deerfield, called Deerfield Northwest ("Massachusetts Historical Collections"). She was a sister of Hannah Holloway, who married Elder David Long, and had a daughter, Hannah, who became the wife of Dr. George Winslow (9446).
The wife of Peleg died in Shelburne and was buried there.
He was a ship carpenter and became a sea captain, made several voyages to China. Some of the curiosities collected by him were consigned to Dr. George Winslow, of Charlemont, on the death of his mother.
He was also a farmer.
