"Capt. Samuel Demarest was also known as Samuel De Maree. Capt. Samuel Demarest was born circa August 1745 at Bergen County, New Jersey. He was baptized on 25 August 1745 at Dutch Reformed Church, Schraalenburgh, Bergen County, New Jersey. He was the son of Peter Demarest and Maria Batton. Capt. Samuel Demarest married Willimena Banta on 28 July 1767 at Dutch Reformed Church, Schraalenburgh, Bergen County, New Jersey. Capt. Samuel Demarest served as a Captian in the Revolutionary War circa 1778 at Bergen County, New Jersey. He died on 17 April 1835 at New York City, New York County, New York, at age 89."
