Thomas Chisman qualified as a justice of York Co August 24, 1680. He served as a Burgess for York County in 1685 and was a member of the Charles Parish vestry  He held 1800 acres in York County and 650 acres in Ware Parish, Gloucester County in 1704 Elizabeth Reade, wife of Thomas Chisman, was a daughter of George Reade, one of the Colonial Americans proven to have been of Royal Descent.
