This authored work generally does not provide references. Introduction to the article cites "record furnished by Eli Swetland of Springfield, Mass."

The first generation of the article reports that William and Agnes Swetland "were probably born prior to 1650 and came from England or Sweden." Reports "they resided in Salem, Mass., in 1676 and in Salem, New London County, Conn. in 1703. Child list reports four children as (quoting below):

Notes: Bibliographic note: This source is referenced Torrey for the marriage of Simon Lovitt and Agnes. Torrey treated this wife as though she was the widow of William Swetland. If William Swetland and Agnes were living at New London County, Conn. in 1703, as B. S. Swetland claimed, then his widow could not have been Simon's wife as children were reported born to this couple before that date. See _Partial Genealogy of the Swetland Family_ (1908)

Notes: Bibliographic note: This is one of several descendant genealogies that have been prepared. In this version, the author and his collaborator acknowledge conflicts about the family of William Swetland and his ancestry. The basis for the "first section" (to p. 443) is said to be "Partial Genealogy" by B. S. Swetland (no date given), but new information is added to that material.

In this 2003 version, the wife of Simon Lovett is shown as the eldest child of William and Agnes (____) Swetland--Agnes, b. 1672 at Beverly, based on "…[convincing] data from Judith Leone Young-Thayer" (see para 4 p. xix").
