She was a daughter of William (source #3) and Susannah Henderson. After David’s death, Florence married 28 September 1785 George Elliott (source #87). David was a private in the militia during the French and Indian Wars and at the time of his death was a captiain of militia, active service in August 1777 or 1778 (source #88). Soon aftrer his marriage he purchased 400 acres of land in Beverly Manor, on Middle River, Augusta County and resided there until his death. This tract is said to have been immediately adjacent to 200 acres on Poage’s Run in Beverly Manor, which was the “home place” of his father William Bell, the immigrant (source #8).
