About Captain Eleazer Hawkins, Sr.

Military 19 Aug 1715 * He enlisted in Capt. Joseph Tooker's Brookhaven Company of Militia under under Col. Henry Smith. He served subsequently as there is reference to his service in 1746.

Occupation farmer and sea captain

     The results of one of his voyages was particularly noteworthy. On this voyage he came across an abandoned ship which he boarded with his crew to see what could be salvaged. They found a large heavy chest filled with so much gold and other valuables that even after the crew were given their proper share, Capt.
