About Captain Jabez Hyde

Hyde Genealogy #8 Jabez Hyde b at Norwich Conn in May 1677 the youngest son of Samuel Hyde 2 and Jane Lee was a grandson of William Hyde the first of Norwich, He m 29 Dec 1709 a sister of his brother William's wife Elizabeth Bushnell b 31 Jan 1686 the youngest daughter of Richard Bushnell Esq and Elizabeth Adgate of Norwich. They settled at Norwich West Farms now Franklin where he had a large tract of land He was a wealthy farmer and was a justice of the peace of Norwich and a representative in the general court eight sessions He d 5 Sept 1702 His wife survived him, and d 21 August 1768. He is in some of the records called Capt. Jabez Hyde. He was appointed clerk of the Franklin church in 1716 and was such clerk many years.

"He was an extensive land holder and justice of the peace, and in some of the old records he is called Captain Jabez Hyde. He married Elizabeth Bushnell, daughter of Richard Bushnell, Esq., and they had a number of children."
