Ten children were born to John and Sarah between 1716 and 1731. On November 8, 1750, John married his second wife, Mary Jacques. Of interest, only three days before his marriage he conveyed two separate parcels of his homestead to sons Eliab and Jeremiah , each for 13 Lb. These deeds are recorded in the York County Registry of Deeds in Book 28, page 289 and Book 30, page 34. John died intestate in 1767 and once again the family divided its holdings, but by this time (1768) only four children appear to have survived their father. Sons Josiah, John, Jeremiah and Eliab and the widow shared in the estate. It is important to note that the children Tabitha, Stephen, Ephraim, Moses, Elijah and Elisha, all baptized to John and his first wife Sarah and listed in Franklin E. Littlefield' s manuscript, appear nowhere in the division of John's estate. Neither are there any representatives of deceased children of John who are considered. Assuming that this estate was distributed according ,to "Colony Law of Massachusetts" there can be little doubt that John left only four heirs and the widow. ... from the Littlefield Family Newsletter_ANCESTRY OF ELISHA LITTLEFIELD_ page 38
