Biographical Summary

"Capt. John Stirling of Belleville, Auchyll and Herbertshire, originally of Belleville, married Christian Stirling, daughter of Sir William Stirling, Bart. of Ardoch. He purchased Auchyll and inherited Herbertshire from his brother William. He died at Herbertshire in 1756. She died September 16, 1763."

30 November 1747: Extract from the Books of Council and Session of Disposition by Captain John Stirling of Herbertshire, heir in special cum beneficio inventarii served, retoured and infeft in the lands and estate of Herbertshire to the deceased William Stirling of Herbertshire, his brother, whereby, in implement of his brother's obligation contained in disposition and assignation (dated 21 November 1743 and registered in the Books of Council and Session 30th May 1745) granted to John Campbell, cashier of the Royal Bank of Scotland, and in corroboration and fortification of the said disposition, he disponed to Campbell the teinds, both parsonage and vicarage, of all lands in the parish of Denny, barony of South Herbertshire and sheriffdom of Stirling: with procuratory of resignation and precept of sasine. At Herbertshire 30th November 1747. Witnesses, John Philp, tenant in Headswood, and George Graham, servant to the granter. Registered 26 January 1748. Certified by William Hall.
