Notes
Noah and Rhoda are usually credited with being the second settlers of the village of Southwick, MA. Noah served the community in several capacities over the course of his long life; selectman, committee of safety, and minute man.
Noah served in his local militia as a private, later a corporal and a captain as his unit was absorbed into the regiment of Colonel Timothy Danielson.
It is possible Noah profited in two ways by risking life and limb for the new nation; his village offered 30 shillings for men to enlist in the militia, and later increased the bounty to 15 pounds and later to 30 pounds when enlistments were harder to come by.
