Thomas R. Rodman, one of the best known residents of New Bedford, died at his home in that city last week, after a short illness, aged 80 years. In the summer of 1862 he assisted in organizing a company for the 38th Massachusetts regiment, a command which saw three years of hard service in the civil war. He was commissioned captain of company H, which was largely composed of Falmouth men, and his term of service expired July 11, 1865, at the close of the war.
