About Carter Vanderbilt Cooper

Carter Vanderbilt Cooper was the fourth born son of Railroad heiress/fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt and the first born to Author/ Screenwrite Wyatt Cooper.

He was a graduate of Dalton High School as well as Princeton University. Mr. Cooper was working at American Heritage Magazine at the time of his untimely death. On the day of July 22, 1988 Mr. Cooper told his mother that he was moving back home. He had broken up with his girlfriend Pearson Marx and wasn't handling it well. His mother told him that he could take Anderson's room the bigger of the two rooms and Carter's was being used as a temporary storage area. His mother and he made plans to have lunch together. She said she would make Spaghetti, which was Carter's favorite. After Ms. Vanderbilt was finished with a meeting she had at her house. They had lunch and he said he hadn't been sleeping well. After lunch Mr. Cooper stretched out on the sofa for a nap. Ms Vanderbilt offered to read to Carter, something they did together often. She read a short story titled "White Angel" from "The New Yorker" By Michael Cummingham. The story is about a young man that runs through closed plate-glass doors while his parents are having a party and it kills him. After talking about the story and deciding to watch movie. Ms. Vanderbilt left Carter to nap. Mr. Cooper woke up in a daze not knowing what was going on. He clearly didn't know her or where he was or who he was. She tried to hold him but he pulled away and ran upstairs. She was in a panic. When she got to Anderson's room it was empty. On a low stone wall surrounding the terrace was Carter sitting on it. She asked What he was doing? He put his arm out to stop her from coming closer. He stood up and stared off in the horizon. Ms. Vanderbilt started towards him. He sat back again in the same position but this time looking down.A helicopter passed over them. He looked up then turn and reached a hand out to Ms. Vanderbilt as she reached he moved over the wall holding onto the edge. She shouted at him to come back for a moment she thought he was going to. However, he let go. After much research Ms. Vanderbilt has concluded that a new respiratory inhaler medication Carter was on could have lead to his death.
