Catharina Dorothea KOEKEMOER

Went to school at Newcastle, Natal at St. Dominic's Academy. Worked in Pretoria as a secretary for about 8 years. Met Ove in war, married. Lived in JHB and then went to Kenya. Worked for Shell Oil in Nairobi. In S. Africa she worked for Caltex till she retired in about 1970. Did volunteer work for Tape Aids for the Blind, and at one point she ran it. Went to Techical college and learned German aged about 58/59. Went to live in Vienna for 3 months. Returned to SA and took up studies of Principals of Greek culture through UNISA, then went to Greece. Joined a group of young students and Professionals, and travelled through Greece and Thessalonika visiting sites. Returned each year and followed footsteps of St. Paul. Had to stop when she developed a tumor behind her eardrrum. Had treatment that destroyed her hearing, making her deaf (other ear had been destroyed as a child in a riding accident).
