Lady Catherine Douglas was born between 1633 and 1641. She was the daughter of William Douglas, 1st Marquess of Douglas and Lady Mary Gordon. She married Sir William Ruthven, son of Maj.-Gen. Sir John Ruthven and Lady Barbara Leslie, after 1648. From after 1648, her married name became Ruthven.
