SIR WILLIAM RUTHVEN OF DUNGLAS
Sir William Ruthven of Dunglas is the eldest son of Major-General Sir John Ruthven of Dunglas and Barbara Leslie. NRS: GD26/6/57 He was served heir to his deceased father in the Barony of Thornton on 12 June 1649. NRS: GD6/560
Death
A date and place of death has not been identified for Sir William Ruthven of Dunglass. He was alive on 8 March 1698, the date upon which his brother James and his wife took sasine of an annualrent given to them by Sir William, NRS: GD110/241 but he died before 21 December 1708, the date upon which John Bowman, Merchant in Glasgow, was confirmed as his executor dative and creditor by the Commissary Court of Edinburgh.
