About Catherine Catren Trueblood
Catherine Cartwright was probably born in 1694, possibly as a twin with her sister, Elizabeth.
She was left various bequests in her father's will of 1707[1].
Catherine married John Trueblood in a double ceremony with her sister Elizabeth and Amos Trueblood on 27 January 1714. Although John and Amos had been brought up as Quakers they were not in good standing with the Friends. As such the wedding took place before a justice.
Before this the Cartwrights were Quakers in good standing: the widow Grace and her two daughters. However the marriage to men outside the Society led to a split. After the usual procedure of visiting the girls and their mother, the Friends formally disowned them. Catherine and Elizabeth on 18 June 1715, and Grace on 21 April 1716[2].
Being outside the community the birth dates of John and Catherine's children are not recorded. But using John's will we know their eldest child to survive infancy, John, was born in 1718. This was followed by Elizabeth and Miriam in about 1720 and 1721. Catherine passes away about 1721, possibly in childbirth with Miriam.
