Cecil's letter requesting release from the RAAF cites the serious heart disease of his Cook father-in-law and inability to manage the family farm because one son could not get release from the power station, and the other died of illness in New Guinea with the AIF, which meant Cecil was needed at home to run the farm. It was approved.

Morwell Advertiser 19 Sept 1940 NO TAIL LIGHT At the Mirboo North Police Court, last week, Cecil John Moore, carrier, Coalville, was fined 10/- for driving a motor vehicle without a rearlight. First-Constable Brown stated he noticed him driving his truck at 11.30 p.m. on 3rd August, without a tail light. On being interviewed, he admitted the offence, and said he had broken it that day when his truck backed into a bank.
