About Chaia Moszkowna Savetman/ Sokolowska

Dawid Sokołowski was born on June 1, 1810 in Czyzewo and his birth was registered on June 8, probably at circumcision. The registration was written in Polish. His father was Icko Sokołowski, age 38, a Jewish teacher, and his mother was CHAYA MOSZKOWNA [=daughter of Moszko],age 30. The civil clerk was also the mayor and police chief of the town. There were two witnesses. Everyone signed off, including the father Icek, who signed his first name and surname in Polish. This is a very early and thus rare record of a Jewish inherited surname.
I obtained the record from Emil Krasnodebski, a professional genealogist, historian, and researcher based in Warsaw, who found it in the Lomza Branch of the Polish State Archives. It is not yet publicly available: Akt 11, 1810 Czyzew Births. It was scanned in two parts.
The Duchy of Warsaw was a French vassal state created by Napoleon and only existed from around 1807-1815. It was divided into six departments, similar to France itself. During this period, beginning in May 1808, the Poles adopted the meticulous and detailed French method of recording births, marriages, and deaths. They continued this for the next 100 years under Russian rule.

CHAJA MOSZKOWNA [=daughter of Moszko] was recorded as the surviving widow of IDZKO SOKOŁOWSKI, who died on in Czyzewo on May 7, 1823. Death registration in Polish is posted here.

According to Moszko's Polish-language 1827 marriage registration in Czyzewo (Chizhevo), his father was IDZKO DAWIDOWICZ (=son of David), deceased at the time of the marriage. His mother was CHAIA IDZKOWA (=wife of Idzko), a widow residing in Czyzewo at that time and "supporting herself through work."

On Faibus's 1868 death record in Russian, he was the son of Itsko and CHAIA MOSKOVNA (=daughter of Mosko).

Moszko's 1882 Russian-language death registration in Wegrow indicated that he was the son of itsko and CHAIA, married couple Savetman.

There's no record of when or where Chaia died.
