Charles Baynham Blatchford

Charles was born to Alicia Windeatt and Rev. Samuel Blatchford. He was named after his father's friend, Charles Baynham, Esq., from Devonshire, England. Mr. Baynham eventually settled in Bridgeport, CT.

Charles had 16 siblings, 6 were born in England: Henry, Mary Milford, Alicia Windeatt, Sarah (died at 14 months), Samuel (died at 21 months) and Thomas Windeatt. The rest were all born in America: Harriet Peacock, Samuel Milford, Richard Milford, John, Sophia, Frederick, George Edgcumbe, Ethelinda Jane (married Pliny Moore Corbin, George Edgcumbe 2nd (died at 13 months old) and Edgecumbe Heath "Benjamin".

An excerpt from "The Blatchford Memorial" by Samuel Blatchford, concerning little Charles' death:

"On the 6th of September, 1904, was born Charles Baynham; but He who gave and had a right to take away was pleased to remove him from us to His own immediate keeping on the 18th of November in the same year. Inscription:

"CHARLES BAYNHAM Died Nov. 18, 1804 aged 10 weeks 3 days"

And across the bottom of the 3 gravestones together with his two brothers:

"Infant sons of REV. SAMUEL & ALICIA BLATCHFORD"
