About Charles "Buddy" Bennett (Benyamin Yakov) Weneck

Charles “Bud” Weneck, 74, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019.

Bud was born in Fresno, California, on March 9, 1945, to Shirley and Joseph Weneck. Bud spent his early years in Tucson, Arizona, later returning home to Kansas City, where he graduated from Shawnee Mission East, and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Bud was filled with positivity and made lasting connections with the many he came into contact with. These innate qualities set the foundation for his lasting and successful career in sales, beginning with Vile-Goller Printing. He later joined his family’s business, Plaza Rental, which he led for many years and with his creativity and innovation, grew the company to the largest party and special event equipment company in the Midwest.

He spent the last 20 years of his career fusing his interests in cars and talents in sales across successful tenures at Major Cadillac and Roberts Auto Group. These professional successes pale to his accomplishments as a husband, father, son, brother and friend. Bud gave endlessly of his time and love. Always quick to smile, and to offer one of his many jokes, he made friends wherever he went, and above all, he simply made you feel better after being in his presence. He had a talent for having the right words, actions and wisdom to share. He faced challenges head on, and always maintained his smile and positive attitude — right until the end of his life.

He loved deeply, exemplified in 42 years of marriage to his beloved Nancy, incredible father to his three children, and “Pop” to his eight grandchildren, and imparted upon us all innumerable values and lessons to which we will honor him carrying forward in life. Our hearts are broken, but forever grateful for all the love, joy, and terrific memories he gave us all.

Bud was preceded in death by: Joseph Weneck, father; Shirley Weneck, mother; Nancy Ann Weneck, wife.

He is survived by: Spencer (Dana) Weneck, son; Sally (Brennan) Hensley, daughter; Todd (Lindsay) Weneck, son; Jackson, Ava, Reagan, Cooper, Zoe, Madeleine, Grant and Miles, grandchildren; Rhonda Brown (Mark), sister.

Services were held Monday, July 1, 2019, at Congregation Beth Torah; interment followed in the Congregation Beth Torah Section in Mount Moriah Cemetery South, Kansas City, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, we would kindly request donations be made to Congregation Beth Torah or the American Cancer Society.
