About Charles Stanley “Stan” Edington

Charles Stanley Edington, Sr., 77, of Shelbyville, died on Sunday, the 7th day of June, 2020, at his residence. Born in Shelby County, he was the son of the late Clyde Underwood and Della Fay Sallee Edington. He retired after twenty-nine years as a maintenance supervisor for the Shelby County Public School System, having formerly worked for Kentucky state government. He was a member of the Buffalo Lick Baptist Church. Camping, gardening, and deer hunting were among his favorite pastimes. A sports enthusiast, he was an enthusiastic fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Miami Dolphins football team. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Lynn Edington, and his sister, Helen Brown.

His survivors include his wife of over forty-eight years, Barbara Edington of Shelbyville; his children, Marcia Yvonne Trapp and her husband, Shane, of Taylorsville, Charles Edington, Jr., and his wife, Vickie, Robert Eugene Edington, Brigette Stark and her husband, David, and Michael Eugene Edington and his wife, Carrie, all of Shelbyville; his brother, David Michael Edington of Waddy; his sisters, Shirley Watson of Frankfort, Margaret Tracey of Waddy, Debbie Guarnieri of Frankfort, and Sandy Hatter of Bagdad; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and his beloved dogs, Scruffy and Buffy.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, the 13th day of June, 2020, at the Bagdad Cemetery in Bagdad, Kentucky, with the Reverend Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M., until 8:00 P.M., Friday, 12 June 2020, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville. Social distancing will be required and the wearing of masks is recommended and strongly encouraged. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Kentucky Humane Society, 1000 Lyndon Lane, Suite B, Louisville Kentucky 40222. He was the son of Clyde Underwood Edington (1920-1981) and Della Faye Sallee (1922-2002), the second of their seven known children. Stan's parents are buried in the Bagdad Cemetery in Bagdad, Shelby Co., KY.

Stan's father, Clyde, was born in Shelby Co., KY. Clyde was the son of Charles Frederick "Charlie" Edington (1892-1968) and Carrie Virginia Tindall (1897-1980). They are buried in Beech Ridge Cemetery in Shelby Co., KY.

Stan's mother, Faye, was born in Frankfort, Franklin Co., KY. She was the daughter of Samuel Edmund "Sam" Tindall (1853-1938) and Caroline Elizabeth Hale (1864-1942). Both were born in Shelby Co., KY and are buried there in the Smith Cemetery located in the little town of Waddy.

On Apr. 22, 1972, Stan married Barbara Ann Slater (1948- L) in Miami, Dade Co., Florida. Stan was 29 year of age, she 23. They were married for 48 years and had two children.
