About Charles John Green
Charles John GREEN
Born 23 September 1851 St Leonards, Sydney NSW
Rego no V18513071 40 Registered Church of England Wilberforce NSW- I think
this could be and error as his siblings were registered Church of England Willoughby NSW
Baptised 30th July 1854 Church of England Willoughby NSW
(Interesting to note that George and Maria gave birth to Charles John Green on the 23rd September 1851 – 4 months after his next 6 older siblings were baptised on the 10th June 1851 at the Church of England Willoughby (they were listed as living at Milson’s Point) and he was not baptised until 30th July 1854, his parents were listed as living at St Leonards, I wonder what was the reason for the baptism of all the children so close to the birth of James (why not just wait until his birth - and then leaving James’ baptism for another nearly3 years!)

Notes for CHARLES JOHN GREEN
From Evergreen Memories – by Margaret Webester
Charles the 11th and youngest child of George and Maria Green was only 8 years old when his father went to New Zealand for the last time in 1859, to fight for land claims in the courts there, so Charles grew up without his father’s guidance. However, his mother and older brothers and sisters would have spoiled the baby of the family and made sure he was not disadvantaged by his father’s absence.
As his brothers left home and sailed to join their father in New Zealand, young Charles could not wait to join them, but it was not until after his father’s death in 1872 that Charles eventually went to seek his fortune he settled in Riverton on the south island of New Zealand where he became a boat builder.
