Brief overview:

Charles (60), was murdered after after he and his wife, Jenny, suffered through four hours of torture on their farm on 8th January 2015. He heard the dog barking and went to investigate as he thought there was something going on with the cows. Once outside, he was ambushed by a group of assailants. Charles was with a wooden pole and a brick across his head. Charles' 29-year-old daughter Jenna said, “He shouted ‘Jenny, lock the door!’ before they dragged him to the house and kicked the kitchen door in.” The men tied Charles and Jenny together on the kitchen floor and kicked them, demanding to know where they money was. All they had in the house was R600, and Jenny told them where the gun safe was. The perpetrators were not wearing masks or balaclavas. They left the couple tied up while they ransacked the house and drank cool drinks and whisky. When the assailants left, Jenny managed to untie herself and push the panic button.

  • A fourth suspect linked to the Muldersdrift murder on 8th January was arrested on 28th January in Rosebank.
  • Muldersdrift police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya said detectives received tip offs before apprehending the suspect. A laptop stolen during the murder and armed robbery were also recovered.
  • Gauteng Provincial spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said three people had already been arrested in the case.
