Charles James Haddon was born on February 24, 1884 in Wellington, Somerset, England, UK, son of Isaac Daykin Haddon and Martha (Frost) Haddon, also both born in England.
On Jan. 16, 1917, when Charles Haddon and his wife lived in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, he enlisted into military service. He was age 32 and 5 feet 10 inches tall. Charles was with the 2nd Volunteer Battalion Prince Albert Somerset Light Infantry; with 102nd Regiment, Rocky Mountain Rangers; and the 225th and 172nd Battalions, Army, Canadian Infantry.
On Dec 25, 1911, Scottish born Agnes Nancy Semple (1889-1974), age 22 of Vancouver, Canada, married Charles James Haddon, age 27, a Fruit Rancher living at Arrow Lake, British Columbia. The religious affiliation noted of the groom was Congregationalist and bride was Presbyterian. Wedding was performed by Rev. H.W. Fraser, D.D. at 400 Cordova St. E. Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Witnesses appeared to be related to the minister, Lizzie May Fraser and M.J. Fraser of Vancouver, B.C.
He became the father of Charles "Chuck" Deacon Semple Haddon (1912-1998) and Douglas Stewart Haddon (1917-1944).
In 1949, Charles Haddon retired as District Forester after 39 years. He lived in Canada for a total of 54 years.
On November 2, 1958, Charles James Haddon of 6721 Dow Ave, Burnaby, B.C., age 74, died in Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, B.C., Canada, as a result of an automobile accident with multiple fractures and internal hemorrhage. Informant was his son, signed as Cal Haddon, of 2773 West 23rd Ave, Vancouver, B.C. Cremation was on Nov. 6, 1958 with disposition to the Funeral Director. Arrangements were with Richmond Funeral Home, Richmond, B.C.
