Charles Mahoney

Obituary found in the Herald-Press, April 13, 1953, Huntington, Indiana

"Charles Mahoney, 54, Huntington county native and for the past 22 years a resident at 1707 East Market street, died at midnight Sunday at his home. He had been ill with a heart ailment for the past four years. Mr. Mahoney was born May 2, 1898, in Lancaster township to Marion and Anna Fist Mahoney. He married Bessie Griffith December 11, 1920.

He was a laboratory technician for 28 years. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren and a past president of the Friendship class of the Sunday school. He servced three terms as governor of Huntington Lodge no. 837 of the Moose.

Mr Mahoney is survived by his wife, Two brothers, Luther Mahoney, Huntington, and Kenneth Mahoney, Dallas, Texas, and four sisters, Mrs Jack Geyer, Lima, Ohio; E. L Swindells, Dallas, Texas, and Mrs T. L. Wheeler, Columbus, Ohio. A brother, Mitchell Mahoney and two sisters, Mrs Helen Nehr and Miss Inez Mahoney, preceded him in Death. The body was removed to the Bailey funeral home where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. E. R. Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster cemetery. Twilight services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by the members of the Moose lodge.

CHARLES MAHONEY RITES HELD WEDNESDAY Funeral services for Charles Mahoney were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Bailey mortuary with the Rev. E. R. Fisher officiating. Mrs Margaret Smith and Mrs. Jean Houser sang with Mrs. Mary Rowe at the organ. Pallbearers were Verley Lee, Emmett Chesterman, Dean Williams, Marvin Steward, Lawrence Weber and Walter Ulrey. Burial was in the Lancaster cemetery."
