About Charles Miles Patterson

Click on "Sources" and then click on the docoment "Dates.jpg" for hard core documentation of all of the rather substantial number of things that we know about Charles Miles Patterson. Additional anecdotal information is as follows: two of his children, Ephraim A. Patterson and Jesse Wallace Paterson, together with a third Patterson named Wilson Patterson built a house when the youngest man on the crew was 70 years old.

Ephraim A. Patterson would doubtless have been startled to have been addressed by that name if the person talking was a relative, so from now on, I will simply call him "Fonnie", which is what everyone else used to do. Fonnie taught shop at Thomas Carr Howe School, which I (Terry Teford Cooper) attended in the days of my youth. Find A Grave has excellent information about him. It does NOT have information about Jesse Wallace Patterson's dates, but I can provide some information about his longevity.

My grandmother, Ora E. Cooper (Updike) complimented Jesse on his longevity at a Cooper family reunion after he had turned 100 years. The reunion was at Donners Park, Columbus, IN, USA, and I know this because I was there. Both Fonnie and Jesse were also in attendance.

I don't have information about Wilson Patterson's relationship to the rest of the family. My father would have known, but my father is dead. I know only that although he was 70 years old at the time of the house building project, he was addressed (at least during the project) by Fonnie and Jesse as "Junior" because he was the youngest of the three men.

Finally, since I have identified myself as a relative, I need to say what the relationship was. Charles Miles Patterson was my second great uncle. I am the direct descendant of Sarah Jane Cooper (Patterson), his sister. She was my great grandmother.
