MILES ---Charles Austin Miles was born February 26, 1846, near La Plata, Missouri, died in Birmingham, Alabama on September 13, 1920. He belonged to one of the pioneer families of Missouri, his father, Cardwell Glenn Miles, moving to Missouri before it was admitted to the Union. ---He joined the Baptist Church when about 14 years of age and was a faithful and consistent member all the years of his life. ---He was married to Miss Amelia MaLettie Oliver on November 22, 1868. On April 22, 1890 he was again married to Mrs. Martha Miley. She has also passed to the great beyond. ---About fifteen years ago he went to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Turner. During his residence in Birmingham, he, by his kind and gentile nature, drew around him a large circle of friends who proved their esteem by their acts of love and sympathy and by many floral offerings during his last illness and death. ---His remains were brought to the home of his brother, J.W. Miles, where the funeral services were held Thursday, the 16, at 4:00, Rev. J. T. Schuler was the officiating minister assisted by Rev. F.L. Hudson. Relatives acted as pallbearers and the body was laid to rest in the La Plata cemetery. ---He leaves to mourn his departure, one daughter, one son and one brother, besides many others and a host of friends. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/66465323/charles-austin-miles
