Charles "Waker" was born in Boston and baptized 23 April 1693 at the Second or New Brick Church there. His mother died in 1705 when he was still quite young and little is known about his father during this time.
Charles Wager was married in Boston at about age 20 to Sarah Eades in 1713, by the Rev. Cotton Mather in a Presbyterian service. Their daughter Sarah was born in Boston the following year and that birth has been confirmed by Boston birth records. The diaries and notes of Judge Samuel Sewall of MA which have been published by the MA Historical Society contain some probate notes entered between Jan 1717 and June 24, 1717: "N. Andrew Waker (sic) sent to sea nearly 12 months ago and has not been heard of. His brother Charles Waker (sic) moved for administration. Deborah Waker (sic) his sister 16 years old lives with John Breed on Lin (sic) (Lynn, MA), who moves that ye said Deborah's share of her brother's estate may be secured for her." We know from father-in-law John Eades' will of Jan 1718 that Charles was a joiner (joyner) by trade.
