About Charles Lynn Willingham

Obituary of Charles Willingham
Charles Willingham passed away peacefully Saturday January 21, 2017 at his home in Englewood surrounded by family and friends. Charlie was born on July 22, 1949 in Provo Utah to parents Winford (Bud) Willingham and Betty (Lynn) Willingham. They moved to Englewood when he was young where he attended Maddox Elementary School, Flood Jr. High School and Englewood High School where he graduated in 1967. While he was in high school he played football and wrestled. He also worked in his fathers furniture repair and refinishing business. After High school he went to work for Wilkerson Corporation.

Charlie joined the United States Army in 1969 where he was stationed in Washington state, Georgia, Arizona and finally Korea. He was discharged in 1972.

After leaving the military he went back to work at Wilkerson Corporation where he met the love of his life. Charlie and Barbara (Gates) were married in 1976 where they continued to live and raise their family in Englewood. They were blessed to have a son, Christopher, and twin daughters, Shelley and Shauna.

Charlie continued to work for Wilkerson until 1996 when he went to work for IMI Norgren Co. where he worked until 2009.

He enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends and also hunting with his son, Father-in-law (Kenny), Mother-in-law (Velda), Brother-in-law (Bob) and Sister-in-law (Pam). They didn’t always get anything but he wouldn’t have missed a trip. He was very involved in Boy Scouts when his son was young. Charlie joined the Englewood Elks Lodge in 1999 where he became a Trustee for the lodge and became involved in the many charitable endeavors that the Elks take on. He made numerous close lifelong friends there. He also became the resident Santa Claus for the lodge. That was a role he took very seriously and thoroughly enjoyed.

Charlie’s family and friends were very important to him. Whenever there was an opportunity to spend time with his kids and grandkids he would take advantage of it whether it was to take them camping and fishing out on the boat, share a meal or just hang out.

Charlie is survived by his wife Barbara (Gates), Son Christopher (Tracy), Daughters Shelley Willingham and Shauna Lockwood. Grandchildren Katrina and Sabrina (Chris), Gabriel and Emily (Shelley) and Alyssa (Shauna) and a brother Fred Willingham from Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents Bud and Betty Willingham, Sister Chree Mott and Brother Winford (Win) Willingham. He is also survived by many neices, nephews and friends.

Charlie’s family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support through this difficult time.
