About Charles Yancey, Jr.
The IGI gives his birthdate as 24 August 1711, but the information is highly suspect and no original source has ever been found. Some sources say that he married Temperance Dumas, confusing him with his brother Robert.
He was not the Charles Yancy who served as an Ensign in the French and Indian War. That Charles Yancy was from Culpeper County, and was probably the son of Lewis Davis Yancy.
