About Christian Brower
The first known record of Christian is in Pennsylvania when he took the naturalization oath in 1743 at the approximate age of 29 and was married to an unknown first wife. Christian obtained 200 acres through a grant from the “Proprietors”, which means this wilderness had not previously been owned. His brothers Henry and John settled near him. Tax records from Coventry, Chester, Pennsylvania in 1766 show Christian was taxed on 200 acres, 3 horses, 8 sheep and one servant. This may have been an indentured servant, as the servant is not shown on later tax lists. The last record in 1771 shows him with 200 acres, 3 horses and 5 cattle. It is not known if he had a trade as well as being a farmer. Christian died in 1771, leaving eight children
