The link to father is uncertain and based on George Dog, flesher, as only known Doig in area at that time. John Dog is the proposed father of the three sons and listed based on location, all naming their first son John, and a John Dog as witness to the christening of at least one of their children. The daughter named her second son John and first daughter Christian. Two of the three sons had a daughter Christian.

A William Dog was was witness to the christenings of the children of Thomas Duncan and Margaret Peatie christened in St. Andrews: William Duncan 31 Aug 1628, David Duncan 2 Dec 1630, and William Duncan 25 May 1634; witnesses with him were David Duncan and Alex Dirk.
