About Christian Gawin
Christian and Dora Boehm Gawin the former a native of German Poland and the latter of Germany. The father (Christian) followed the vocation of a farmer in his native country and came to the United States with his family in 1870 settling in Milwaukee. Only twelve days after his arrival while engaged in work for the Chicago Milwaukee & St Paul railway he was accidently killed. His family thus suddenly deprived of their support and bread winner consisted of the widow and four small children - three daughters and a son. Of the children three grew to maturity: Mary, now the widow of Max Jazdzewski; Magdalen, the deceased wife of Frank Zurkowski and August M.
