Christina (73), was hacked to death with an axe at her Primrose home, on 04/12/1989. Christina Smith of Wychwood was found in a pool of blood in her lounge at about 5 pm. Detectives found the murder weapon, a blood-stained axe in the pantry.

Mrs Smith's husband, Pieter Smith (63), and the couple's daughter, Elsie Vorster (38), last saw Mrs
Smith alive at 11 am.

Police believe that robbery was the motive for the slaying.
