About Christine Enger

Birth:  Nov. 7, 1884 Death:  Jan. 20, 1970

Kristine Karlsen, age 17, and her 16 year old sister, came to the U.S together, from Norway, via Liverpool, England. The voyage took 9-10 days and they arrived in Ellis Island, New York, in 1901. Three of their mother's siblings were already living in Massachusetts at the time of their arrival.

Christine (her Americanized name) married in 1905. Her husband was also from Norway. They had 8 children together. The family lived in various places in Lowell, MA. She was a loving grandmother. I remember her asking me to read letters out loud to her that she had just received from relatives back in Norway. She liked going for outings with her adult children and grandchildren.
