Christo (64), a caretaker and janitor, who worked on a smallholding in Brits, was found murdered on Sunday 11th April 2021. His body was found, with a gunshot wound to the head, between his house and the storage unit.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh, a worker came across his body yesterday morning. She believes he did not die of natural causes because there was blood on his clothes. A post-mortem will now be done.
The keys to Christo's house were missing, but his vehicle was still parked outside his house.
According to Myburgh, a 30-year-old suspect has been arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, but that it is still unknown whether he can be linked to the murder.
The suspect appeared in court on 12th April and released on R1000 bail. He will appear in court again on 28th June 2021.
