Col. Christopher Stuart, a native of Ireland, born in 1748; came to this country about 1770; settled in Montgomery County* Pa.; patriot of the Revolution; an officer in the Revolutionary army, who was second in command at the storming of Stony Point. He was an officer in the Pennsylvania Line; successively captain, major, and lieutenant-colonel; participated in the battle of Long Island, the storming of Stony Point and in other engagements; died, 1799. He was a member of the Hibernian Society, Philadelphia.
