About Clara Sever
Clara M. Sever, R.N., 88, of Vandling, died Thursday morning at the Forest City Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late John Paul Sever, who died in 1986. They were married on Aug. 24, 1950.
Born Aug. 5, 1928, in Vandling, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Christina Glavich Menart. Clara was a graduate of Vandling High School and St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. Before retirement, she was a registered nurse working in pediatrics. She was a member of Ascension Parish, St. Ann's Lodge, the Slovenian Union of America, the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the KSKJ. Clara served as treasurer of Vandling Borough and was a correspondent for The Scranton Times. She lived in her family homestead for 88 years. Clara will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are children, Robert Sever and wife, Mary, Stroudsburg; Nancy Muniz and husband, Robert, Las Vegas, Nev.; Paul Sever and wife, Jerrilee, Salmon, Idaho; and Carl Sever and wife, Tami, Kunkletown; a daughter-in-law, Lori Sever, Severna Park, Md.; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Phillip, Kira, Courtney, Tessa, Gary and Cassie; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Ryan "Lily" Sever; a sister, Margaret Menart, Binghamton, N.Y.; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, John and Luke; and a grandson, Mark.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City.
