About Clarance Vickers Painter

Jeffersonian September 14, 1872

DIED SUDDENLY- ON Sunday last, Clarence Painter, a young man aged about 19 years, died suddenly of heart disease at the residence of his father Samuel M. Painter in West Chester. The deceased had been affected with the disease for several years, and with the hope of recuperating his health he was sent to Europe, from which journey he but returned about two weeks prior to his death. It was thought the trip had effected a change for the better, but alas for human hopes, on Sunday morning last he was suddenly taken ill, and expired in a few minutes. He was a young man of more than ordinary promise, and his death causes pangs of keenest regret among a large circle of friends and relatives.

PAINTER- In West Chester, on First-day, the 9th month 8th, Clarence youngest son of S.M. Painter aged 19 years.

SUDDEN DEATH- Clarence Painter, youngest child of Samuel M. and Anna V. Painter, died at the residence of his father in this borough, at an early on Sunday morning last. He was a young man, in his nineteenth year, and of a delicate constitution. More than a year ago he started with his mother on a tour of Europe in search of health and only two weeks ago they returned to their home in West Chester, the devoted mother congratulating herself that her boy's health had been permanently benefited by the journey on the continent, but now, alas! he is no more. To this end she had subjected herself to all the discomforts of a voyage across the Atlantic and a tedious journey on the continent. On Saturday evening he retired as usual, and quite early in the morning he was found, breathing heavily, when his father gave him a glass of water. He expressed himself as feeling quite comfortable. An hour later he was taken ill and died before medical attendance arrived- of heart disease.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Jul 31 2020, 5:15:18 UTC
