About Clarence John Ainsworth

Wedding described in the "Clarence and Richmond Examiner" of Thursday 12 August 1909:

"AINSWORTH-ALDERSON WEDDING. On Wednesday morning a quiet wedding, and one of widespread interest to a large circle of friends, took place in Christ Church Cathedral, when Archdeacon Moxon united in the holy bond of wedlock Miss Beatrice Norma Alderson daughter of Mrs. and the late Captain W. H. Aldcrson. of "Alston Oliver-street, Grafton, and Mr. Clarence John Ainsworth, South Graf ton, son of Mr. George Ainsworth. The chancel had been prettily decorated with sword fern and white daisies by a band of lady friends, and a large number of rela- tives and friends were present to witness the ceremony, the contracting parties being all known and highly esteemed. Mr. C. Shore presided at the organ, filling the sacred edifice with beautiful music whilst awaiting the arrival of the bridal party. The bride entered the church on the arm of her mother, who subsequently gave her away, and passed to the altar, where the bridegroom awaited her, supported on his right by his brother, Mr. Harold Ainsworth, who fulfilled the duties of best man. The bridal toilette consisted of a handsome Directoire coat and skirt of silver grey satin face cloth, showing a dainty vest, of rich cream charmeuse satin, her hat of white felt having a gathered crown of rich Ottoman silk and ivory tint- ed wings, her sister. Miss N. Alderson, acted as bridesmaid, and wore a pretty cream silk costume effectively trimmed and encrusted with heavy Paris point lace and folds of silk, and wore a becoming cream hat of cream straw beautified with ribbon and a large spray of pink roses, and carried a choice bouquet of pink and white blooms and delicate asparagus fern.

"The bride's mother was habited in a black cloth walking costume, soutached with white, and wore a black hat relieved with white ospreys.

"Amongst the guests Mrs. F. Doberer was noticed, looking particularly handsome in a rich brown silk costume much shirred, and soutached; in self tones and with cream lace reliefs, and a smart brown hat. mounted with brown wings and silk swaithing.

"Mrs. Ainsworth, the bridegroom's mother, wore a navy tailor-made cloth costume, and a navy hat mounted with shaded wings.

"Miss Ainsworth wore a becoming cream silk striped ninon, inset with cream applique, and touches of brown ribbon velvet, hat to harmonise. Miss Dorothy Ainsworth was charming in cream voile, trimmed with lace, and a dainty white hat massed with Banksia roses. After the ceremony of signing the register the bridal party left the church to the joyful strains of Mendelssohn's Wedding March, and was plentifully showered with rose leaves and confetti as they entered the cabs awaiting to convey them to the residence of the bride's mother. Later Mr. and Mrs. Ainsworth left by the morning train en route to Brisbane, where the honeymoon will be spent. Ere leaving they were made the recipients of many costly wedding gifts, amongst which figured the beautiful silver tea and coffee service presented by the Cathedral Council. MIGNONETTE."
