Cleo Joyce Mietzner

Cleo "Joyce" (Peters) Mietzner, 90, of Effingham, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Entombment will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at Johnson Funeral Home.

Joyce was born on February 8, 1927, in Effingham, IL, to Benjamin and Cleo (Arnold) Peters. She was united in marriage to Ralph N. Mietzner on February 1, 1947, in Effingham County, and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2005. Ralph and Joyce owned the Rollin' Hills Laundromat for more than 20 years. They were members of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham.

Joyce was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great pride being with her family.

Joyce is survived by her children, Mike (Sandie) Mietzner, Larry (Karen) Mietzner, Denise (Lloyd) Elson and Deanna (Larry) Limes all of Effingham; grandchildren, Gretchen (Adam) Watson, Erica (Randy) Hansen, Kristin Williamson, Katherine (Jacob) Clark, Sarah Mietzner, and Melissa (Eric) Schumacher; great-grandchildren, Tara (Bash) Williams, Taylor Watson, Sammantha Steele, Evan Williamson, Emmerson Hansen, Leah Schumacher, Cecilia Clark, Ellie Schumacher, and Georgia Joy Clark; great-great-grandchildren, Noah Pilcher, Elijah Pilcher, and Shae Williams; brothers-in-law, Garland Bloemker and Bill Sehi; and sister-in-law, Nellie Rentfro.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; son, Mory Mietzner; grandsons; Joshua Mietzner and Aaron Mietzner; great-grandson, Dakota Boyd; brothers, Lester Wood, Ben Peters, Don Peters, and Ike Peters; sisters, Jewel Bloemker, Janet Sehi, LaVelle Lankford, Vera Auton, and Florence Bushue; and brother-in-law, Glen Rentfro.

Joyce Mietzner of Effingham will celebrate her 90th birthday on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 with a card shower.

She is the mother of Mike, Larry, Denise Elson and Deanna Limes, all of Effingham.
