Brief overview:
Clive (59) was shot dead at the Bundu Estate near White River, on Wednesday. 13th January 2015 after attackers broke through a window and gained access to his house.. “According to information, he was asleep with his partner when they heard some noise in the house,” said Brigadier Selvy Mohlala. They saw a man in the house. “It is alleged that the suspects sprayed the old man with a pepper spray and thereafter shot him dead,” said Mohlala. The attackers fled with a television set and cellphones belonging to the couple.
According to provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a suspect or suspects broke into the house of resident Clive Bowers at about 11:30.
Vernon Lancaster, General Manager of Hi-Tech Security in Mbombela responded to the break-in. “The couple’s alarm was activated when the window broke and we sent a response team out. We found Mr Wagner lying on the ground bleeding and called the ambulances,” he said.
Lewis Mathe (36), Osvaldo Manyike (34), Thomas Mashaba (27) and Pedro Chambale (37) were arrested on February 13 last year 2015, a month after Bowers was killed. They appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court on March 23rd 2016. Their case was postponed as their legal representation was not finalised. The four Mozambican nationals, who have been posing as hawkers by day but are actually thugs by night, have been arrested in connection with 30 serious crimes.
