Not the right person? See All › About BORN November 19, 1940 DIED August 27, 2016 AGE 75 LOCATION Detroit Lakes, Minnesota Obituaries Send Flowers Lorraine Windels, age 75, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away at Vibra Hospital in Fargo, ND, on Saturday, August 27, 2016.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee with a prayer service to take place at 6:15 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be made at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Detroit Lakes.

Lorraine was born November 19, 1940, to William and Bertha (Hadeck) Manning. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee, MN. Lorraine grew up in Frazee, MN, graduating from Frazee High School with the class of 1958. She married Clyde Windels at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frazee on June 6, 1959. The couple lived in Frazee, then made their home in Detroit Lakes where they raised 6 children: Perry, Kristi, Sheldon, Jeff, Kari and Angela. The family enjoyed many trips throughout the years, visiting relatives, friends and also traveled to several state parks. Lorraine also liked to go to the various establishments where she enjoyed listening to Clyde play in his band on the weekends.

Lorraine worked for many years in sales and purchasing at Blanding’s, Norby’s and JcPenney’s in Detroit Lakes. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, needlepoint, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved listening to music, along with reading and writing poetry. She donated blood for many years, only stopping when her health declined.

Lorraine’s life was deeply saddened by the passing of her husband, Clyde in 1991. With his passing, Lorraine truly lost the love of her life and struggled deeply with his death.

Lorraine is survived by 6 children: Perry (Lori) of Detroit Lakes, Kristi Hilde of Frazee, Sheldon (Shelley) of Detroit Lakes, Jeff of Pelican Rapids, Kari (Steve) Sammis of Pine City, MN, Angela (Mark) Anderson of Detroit Lakes; 19 grandchildren: Heather Goettee, Nicole Baca, Timothy Windels, Jason Ekholm, Tyler Hilde, Megan Hilde, Gunnar Hilde, Grace Hilde, Trista Windels, Tabitha Windels, Bryant Windels, Taylor Vonderharr, Tessa Windels, Jeff Windels Jr., Kayla Summers, Matthew Summers, Olivia Sammis, Elliotte Anderson and Charlotte Anderson; 10 great grandchildren: Aunica, Rowan, Alexis, Jaelyn, Gavin, Khoen, Madden, Gianna, Ace, and Brody; 1 brother, Eugene (Delores) Manning of Callaway, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mabel Manning of Frazee, and Betty Manning of Perham, Alice Schoen of Sebeka, MN, Harvey (Jeannine) Windels of Crookston, MN, Martha Renneberg of Menahga, MN, and Pearl Koskela of Embarrass, MN; along with several nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Windels; parents: Bill and Bertha Manning; great granddaughter, Ariella Baca; sisters: Dorene Baumgart, Gladys Poeppel, and Meriel Manning; and brothers: Larry and Clyde Manning; brothers-in-law: Arland Baumgart, Harold Schoen, and Richard Koskela.
