Baker Cemetery was moved from its original location to Centre Presbyterian Church Graveyard when Lake norman was formed from the Catawba River in 1960. Per Centre Presbyterian Church Cemetery Records.

Hugh Lawson’s will, September of 1764 and probated in November 1772 in Rowan County, NC, names:

  • son Roger (who Worth Ray said married Hannah Thompson and came to Georgia)
  • daughter Mary (who married General James White)
  • son in law George Ewing (who married Catherine Lawson)
  • son in law James Henderson (who married Violet Lawson)
  • son in law Hugh Barry (who married Cynthia Lawson)
  • son in law Thomas Erwin (whose wife’s name has not been located)

Worth Ray also indicates a son, “Hugh Lawson, Jr., who came to Georgia.” We have not found him.
