About Col. Leroy Bradford Taylor
Parmenas and his brother LeRoy TAYLOR were both Majors in the Revolutionarily War
-------------------------------------------------------
Leeroy (not Leroy) Taylor was indeed a brother of Parmenas Taylor. As for the rest of that message, while those are amusing family stories, they have no basis in fact.
He was married around the age of 18 or 19 to Nelley Wilson -- and she was his only wife. The couple had six children. Leeroy Taylor volunteered this information from his own mouth (and named the children) in a period deposition recorded in a Bedford Co. TN deed book.
After the death of his wife, he then had some nine illegitimate children by Mary Wilson. He dodged the illegitimacy issue rather nicely by saying that he had never married Mary Wilson, but had lived with her for many years -- and that "... she had a number of children ..." during the time he lived with her. Duh. Those children split a part of his property after his death, establishing their identities. --Carl

Leroy Taylor born July 25, 1758 Pr Wm Co VA, died Mar 24, 1834 in Leesburg, Washington Co TN. Both he and his brother, Parmenas were reared in Burke Co NC, to which place their step-father, Hosea Rose, moved, and they used the name Rose until they were nearly grown. They served in the Revolution, however, under their own name.
