They married in 1739 in Charlotte County, Virginia. Sarah Randolph was the daughter of Henry Randolph III (298) and his wife, Elizabeth.
Collier Barksdale cultivated tobacco on his plantation. He had taken a load of tobacco to Petersburg, Virginia, when on the return trip home he became seriously ill and died before reaching home.
Collier's family is not well-researched. His wife Sarah's is. Henry Randolph III was the son of Henry Randolph II and his wife, Sarah Swann. Henry Randolph II was the son of Henry Randolph I. Henry Randolph I was the son of William Randolph and his wife, Dorothy Lane. Elizabeth Randolph was the daughter of Colonel Frances Eppes and his wife, Anne Isham Eppes of Henrico Co., Virginia.
Collier Barksdale's brother, Henry, had several children who fought in the Revolutionary War. They included Claiborne (1738-1821) who married Sarah Goode (born 1745) and then Mrs. Jane Morton Carter. Claiborne served as a soldier from Virginia. Beverly (1756-1822) married Anna Terry and Judith Womack. Beverly served as a PS from Virginia. Henry Hickerson (1758-1831) married Molly Bayne and served WGN from Virginia.

It traces the family back to William the Conqueror, which soulds a bit fantastic at firs.. Captiain John was a lawyer and built a relatively plausible case for the lineage.
