He is the Abraham Barnes, as seems most likely, who, sometime after 1743, married Sarah Ball, widow of Dennis McCarty, also a vestryman of Truro Parish. There was a Richard Barnes of York County, Virginia, in the seventeenth century (his widow married in 1675) who may have been of the same family.
