Colonel William Trigg, Jr. was born in 1742 in Bedford, Bedford County, Virginia, United States. His parents were Judge William Trigg, Sr., and Mary Trigg. He was a Col. of the 5th Regiment at the battle of Yorktown.
William married Sarah Kent Trigg on February 28, 1765 in Orange, Sampson, North Carolina, United States. Together they had the following children:

William Trigg Jr. was born in 1742 in Virginia, the second son of William Sr. and Mary Johns Trigg. He lived in Bedford county, Virginia. Caswell County, North Carolina was the home of the prominent Saunders family. William married Sarah Saunders about 1765, daughter of Colonel James Saunders. At one time he served as a Justice of the Peace, a prominent position in those days. William Trigg, Jr. was appointed Lieutenant Colonel of Bedford County, Virginia troops, 1778, and was Colonel at close of the war.
